On Tuesday (September 29), the New York Giants officially released its veteran wide receiver ODell Beckham Jr. after only three games of the current 2026 season — which doubled as the Giants and OBJ’s second run together in his NFL career.

OBJ was first drafted by the New York Giants in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Giants selected him in the first round as the 12th overall pick out of Louisiana State University (LSU). OBJ went on to have a historic rookie season with Giants.
OBJ eventually left in 2018 and then signed to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He played until 2021. He then briefly played for the Los Angeles Rams and then in 2022, he began playing for the Baltimore Ravens, until 2023. In 2024, he briefly played for the Miami Dolphins.
After a nearly two-year hiatus, OBJ signed back on with the New York Giants. In June, he inked a one-year $1.3 million contact. However, after only three regular-season games with the giants during the 2026 NFL season, the team released him as of September 29 — cutting his second stint with the franchise super short.
During his return, OBJ one plane da total of 19/20 offensive snaps and did not record a single reception. Following news of OBJ’s short-lived reunion with the Giants, NFL reporters learned that the team signed two wide receivers. One was identified as wide receiver Charlie Jones, coming from the practice squad.
Additionally, the Giants signed veteran Braxton Berrios. He also came from the practice squad, after three seasons. OBJ’s former teammates, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Isaiah Likely have reacted to the news, in addition to sports commentators and more.
