Odell Beckham Jr. Banned From LSU Football Facilities After Handing Out Money To Players

On Wednesday, Louisiana State University officials announced that Odell Beckham Jr. will now be banned from LSU football facilities after he was spotted handing out money to players.

The former LSU Tigers receiver is no longer allowed to visit the team’s facilities for two years after he handed out $2,000 in cash to various players after winning last year’s College Football Playoff Championship Game.

Initially, school reps told reporters that the money was fake, however, after an investigation, they discovered Beckham Jr. violated LSU’s stance on booster payments. Additionally, it was revealed that booster funds were made to a father of a football player, leading to the school self-imposing penalties by forfeiting eight football scholarships over the next two years, reducing recruiting visits, evaluations and communication.

LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Munson stated, “LSU has worked proactively and in cooperation with the NCAA to identify and self-report any violations that occurred within our football program. We believe these self-imposed penalties are appropriate and we will continue to coordinate and cooperate with the NCAA on this matter.”
