Federal prosecutors are making a strong case for rapper Pooh Shiesty to remain behind bars, claiming that he poses a significant danger to the community and should not be granted bond.
The rapper, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., has requested release ahead of his February trial. He faces serious charges, including robbing and kidnapping fellow rapper Gucci Mane in January, alongside a group of eight other individuals, which includes his father, Lontrell Williams Sr., and rapper Big30.
In a recent court filing, the government contended that Shiesty should not be released under any circumstances, stating, “no condition of release can protect the community or witnesses against Williams Jr. from the danger he poses.”
Prosecutors emphasized the severity of the situation, declaring, “the danger here is concrete. Williams Jr. himself has shot at least two people. He leads a Memphis street gang of roughly 100 members. He is a man who can summon an armed entourage at will.”
