Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather is facing a massive legal blow. A Texas judge has ordered the daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather to pay more than $50 million in damages following a civil trial connected to a violent 2020 altercation.
The staggering judgment, which stems from a stabbing incident involving rapper NBA YoungBoy, includes $40,105,000 in compensatory damages and an additional $10 million in exemplary damages. The court determined that Mayweather’s actions amounted to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and posed an “extreme degree of risk” to the victim, Lapattra Jacobs.

The compensatory award breaks down into past and future categories, with over $8 million allocated for past medical expenses, pain and suffering, and disfigurement. An additional $32 million was granted to cover future damages, reflecting the long-term impact of the injuries Jacobs sustained during the attack, which included the permanent loss of function in one of her arms.
The legal saga dates back to an April 2020 incident at NBA YoungBoy’s residence. Authorities reported that Mayweather arrived at the home and engaged in a physical confrontation with Jacobs, which escalated when Mayweather attacked her with two knives.
On the criminal side of the case, Mayweather previously pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to six years of probation in 2022. While NBA YoungBoy was present during the initial incident, he was not charged, and Jacobs’ legal claims against him did not proceed to trial.
The $10 million in exemplary damages was added by the judge to penalize the severity of Mayweather’s conduct, bringing the total liability to just over $50 million. This marks one of the largest personal injury judgments involving a high-profile celebrity relative in recent years.
Representatives for Mayweather have yet to comment on whether they plan to appeal the decision. The ruling brings a close to a multi-year legal drama that has followed the 24-year-old since her headline-grabbing arrest four years ago.
