A Florida nurse says a doctor intentionally infected her with the coronavirus after she complained about the lack of PPE in the office.

Venise Jean-Baptiste filed a lawsuit against her boss, Dr. Joseph Piperato, stating that he failed to provide personal protective equipment and came to work with symptoms of the virus after attending a Miami Beach music festival in March. She also said she urged the doctor to get tested for the virus after he continued to cough and appeared to be visibly ill at the Project Access Foundation office. Moments later, Dr. Piperato turned around and coughed in Jean-Baptiste’s face.
“He just went ‘Ahhh,’ and he said, ‘Well, if I have it, now you have it, too. Now, leave me alone,’”

Days after he coughed on her, Jean-Baptiste said she and her two-year-old son Abel, started experiencing symptoms of the virus. She was admitted to a local hospital where she spent more than a week fighting the virus. She has recovered from the virus but is now seeking damages for her health, recovery, and medical expenses.
The Project Access Foundation has released a statement amid the filing and says the allegations are false, claiming they have been following all CDC regulations and providing PPE.
“The allegations set forth in the complaint are unfounded and will be aggressively defended”
