Wow! Tamar Braxton took on Mariah Carey’s “My All” and absolutely made it her own as she dedicated the emotional rendition to her sister Trina Braxton and her late husband Von Scales.

As we previously shard earlier this month, Scales passed away at 58. Trina’s publicist, David Robinson, confirmed the news in a statement to BOSSIP. Robinson called Scales the “beloved husband” of the star.
The family thanked everybody for their thoughts and prayers but asked for privacy while they work through the loss. Details about what led to his death have not been made public. The full statement read:
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, beloved husband of Trina Braxton. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers, but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event.”
PEOPLE later reported that Scales passed away in Atlanta, Georgia after battling heart-released health issues. Scales — who married Trina in December 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri — stepped into Trina’s life during one of her roughest chapters.
She had recently lost her first husband, Gabriel “Gabe” Solis, in 2018. He passed away from cancer at 43. Scales stayed by her side while she grieved, and Trina never forgot it. She said in 2019 that he “stood right by me” through that difficult time.

Toni, Tamar, And Towanda Braxton Share Tributes After Passing Of Sister Trina Braxton’s Husband Von Scales
While taking to social media, Trina’s sisters, Tamar, Toni Braxton, and Towanda Braxton, shared tributes to Von Scales. Toni wrote, “Rest in Peace to my brother in law, Von, my sister’s true soulmate. We will continue to love and remember you 🪽❤️.”
Towanda wrote:
“Time…..we needed more time brother in law. Thank you for loving Tree-Nee and for being her person. We miss you more than you know. You were an incredible human. #unblelievable Love, your favorite sister-in-law – Sis #VonScales.”
Tamar wrote:
“I’ve started writing this so many times and erased it because I still don’t know what to say. (Here it goes..🫣) I don’t know how to make this real 💔 Von ‘Top 5’ that’s what I called you because that’s exactly what you were. One of my top five favorite people in this world & you still are. You always will be. I’m going to miss YOU. Your presence. Your heart. Your strength & how you showed up & protected the people you loved. You were a man’s man, but underneath all that strength was one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever known. the way you loved my sister.I have never seen anyone love Trina the way you did. You didn’t just say it, you showed it. You covered her. You protected her. As her sister, there are no words for what it meant to know somebody loved her THAT deeply. Thank you for loving my sister the way she deserved.
That’s why my heart is breaking all over again because I look at my sister & wonder, how much is one person supposed to take? It feels so unfair that Trina has to grieve again when we’re still learning how to live without Traci. Some losses you don’t ‘get over.’ You just learn how to carry them & now she has to carry this too 💔 But Trina, you’ll never carry it alone. We are here. Your sisters are here. When you can’t stand, we’ll hold you up. When you don’t know how you’ll make it through another day, we’ll make it through together. That’s what family does & that’s what we’ll always be… FAMILY 🤞🏾 I hate that our family has to learn how to live with another piece of our hearts missing.
Von, I hope Traci was right there waiting for you 🕊️ I can only imagine y’all laughing, talking & carrying on while we’re down here crying. Give our Traci the biggest hug for us. And y’all better watch over Trina. Both of you. She needs y’all now more than ever. Grateful for every laugh, conversation & memory. I wish I could call you. I wish ‘Top 5’ was still something I could yell when I saw you instead of something I now carry in my heart with the other broken pieces. Rest well, Von.You fought. You loved. You protected. You left your mark on us.There’s millions of people in this world, but you my boy will be in my personal Top 5 FOREVER 🤞🏽💔.”
