Buffie “The Body” Carruth has left the internet gagged after she revealed that she was in her 40s during her iconic video vixen days in the 2000s. She says she was out there working with women in their 20s.
On the October 9 episode of ‘The Tamron Hall Show,’ Buffie Carruth, who is now married and also carries the last name Lewis, made her revelation. While appearing on the show, Buffie, now in her 60s, caught us up on what she’s been up to after leaving behind her video girls days some odd 15-20 years ago.
But before revealing what’s new, she briefly spoke about her reasons for leaving the industry and how she even started. She shared that her rise to fame was totally unexpected. She said a simple photoshoot ended up changing her life. Despite the unexpected nature of her introduction into the industry, she quickly became a household name. Buffie “The Body” became one of the most recognizable models and music video vixens in the 2000s.
Buffie ‘The Body’ Carruth Reveals She ’Never Ever’ Wanted to Become A Model
While reflecting on her successful career as a video model, Buffie said it helped her achieve financial independence. She said, “I bought a home, had perfect credit, and paid off all my bills.” When host Tamron Hall asked how old Buffie was at the time, she gagged the host and her audience. She revealed that during this time in her life and career, she was hustling at 40-something with girls in their 20s. She said:
“I was in my early 40s, but a lot of people didn’t even know that I was that old. Most of the girls who was in the industry with me, all the video girls, they was in their 20s, 23—honey, I was already in [my] 40s. I was old. But no one knew. They don’t like you telling your age.”
Buffie also said she “didn’t choose the industry, it chose her,” adding that she “never ever wanted to be a model, never, never.” She said, “It’s not something I was trying to do.” She later went on to reveal what led to her leaving the industry.
In a post following her appearance, Buffie continued to reflect on her previous modeling career and present day life.
“For years, I’ve had people reach out to me about appearing on their podcasts or doing interviews, and I’ve always politely declined. If the focus couldn’t be on my clothing brand, Brick Built, my yard and home projects, or my current lifestyle, then I wasn’t interested. Not because I didn’t appreciate the invitations, but because most of those conversations were centered around a lifestyle I haven’t lived in over 15 years. The Buffie the Body era… the music videos, the magazine covers, the party/event host, and the sexy swimsuit model. That was a chapter of my life, but it’s not the life I live today. In 2026, I decided to start sharing more of what my real life looks like. I wanted to start being my real self. So when The Tamron Hall Show reached out to me, it was different. They were interested in what they saw me doing on social media TODAY. Not just who I was 20 years ago, but who I am NOW. And that’s why I accepted the invitation. Of course, you can’t tell my story without revisiting Buffie the Body. You have to understand where I came from to truly appreciate where I am today. That’s what makes my story so interesting. It’s the BIG contrast between the life I lived back then and the life I’m living now. People find it shocking that I cut down trees and build fireplace walls…😅😂. For the first time in my life, I get to sit down for an interview that feels like it’s about Buffie, the woman I am today, and not just Buffie the Body, the woman the world knew years ago ❤️.
When I decided to start sharing my yard and home projects on my Buffie the Body social media pages, I had no idea where it would lead. But one thing I can almost guarantee you is that if I had come back trying to be the same Buffie the Body who made me famous 20 years ago, Tamron Hall would have never reached out to me about being on her show. Sometimes it’s not about reminding people of who you USED to be. It’s about showing them who you’ve BECOME. ❤️ #TamronHallShow #buffiethebody.”
