NFL star Xavien Howard, who plays for the Miami Dolphins, is facing a lawsuit from a woman who claims he gave her genital herpes before telling her to move on. According to reports, court documents were filed on Thursday at the Broward County Circuit Court, as the woman — simply known as “Jane Doe” in the docs — says she wants the case to be heard in front of a jury.

The alleged victim details how she first met Howard back in 2018 at a Quest Diagnostics laboratory, where the athlete had taken her on their first date. Before the pair would engage in sexual activities, the lawsuit claims Howard told her had no STDs and proceeded to show her his recent test results which appeared to have come back negative.

The following year, however, Howard was said to have contracted genital herpes and didn’t disclose the information to the woman. Instead, he would allegedly tell her that he’d been tested several times and his results were still coming back as disease-free. “With knowledge of his incurable sexually transmitted disease, and without disclosure, Defendant Howard continued to engage in unprotected sex with Plaintiff without informing her of same,” the court docs read.

It wasn’t until last year when the woman found out she had tested positive for genital herpes herself, and considering that she was solely sleeping with him at the time, the only possibility would have been that he transmitted the incurable disease to her.

What’s more, Howard initially denied having herpes after being confronted by the woman before eventually coming clean and allegedly admitting that he had known about his condition and wrongfully continued to engage in unprotected sex regardless.

“Maaaaan I been told you I was sorry for giving it to you,” he told her in what appeared to be a text message, the lawsuit asserted. “But what can I do now? The damage is done. You keep bringing it up as if it gon change sumthin. Like yo a** can’t move on.”

The woman says she felt as if she had no choice but to have sex with him after her diagnosis because she became fearful of spreading the disease to someone else. “Scared, confused, and never wanting to do what Defendant Howard did to her to anyone else, Plaintiff did continue to engage in sexual intercourse with Defendant Howard,” the docs read.

The woman adds that she’s seeking damages in excess of $30,000.
