Global Condom Shortage Feared As Coronavirus Shuts Down Production

Experts claim that there could be a coronavirus baby boom as condom production has been shutdown due to lockdown restrictions.

The Guardian reports that a global shortage of condoms is inevitable after the world’s biggest producer was forced to shut down production. Malaysia’s Karex Bhd, which makes at least one in five condoms around world has halted production as the Malaysian government imposed a lockdown which included factories.

The company which poses as Durex in the U.S was “given permission to restart production on Friday, but with only 50% of its workforce, under a special exemption for critical industries.”

“It will take time to jumpstart factories and we will struggle to keep up with demand at half capacity,” said chief executive, Goh Miah Kiat.

“We are going to see a global shortage of condoms everywhere, which is going to be scary,” he added. “My concern is that for a lot of humanitarian programmes … in Africa, the shortage will not just be two weeks or a month. That shortage can run into months.”

This could lead to a lot of babies as couples have nothing better to do than stay inside and get loved up! Dr. Mehmet Oz even told TMZ that couples should have sex while they’re quarantined. “You’ll live longer, get rid of the tension. … Maybe you’ll make some babies.”
