An NYPD officer is not so tuff and powerful as he thought now that he’s been stripped of his gun and badge and placed on desk duty, according to The Daily Mail.

As we previously over the weekend, NYPD cops broke up a group of people ignoring social distancing orders on Saturday. A video shared with the internet showed one concerned bystander trying to check on the young adults who were being detained.
However, Officer Francisco Garcia can be seen threatening the crowd around him then confronting the concerned bystander identified as 33-year-old Donni Wright. “What you flexing for? Don’t flex,” Garcia, wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, Yankees cap and a belt showing his officer’s badge, replied before tasing and punching Wright in the head.
Garcia also can be seen punching Wright repeatedly as he forced him to the ground. He then dragged him onto the sidewalk where he was placed in handcuffs by another officer. Many officers including Garcia, were notably not wearing protective masks, which is required to be worn by law enforcement.
As the news site notes, Wright was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. The charges have been deferred pending further investigation, a Manhattan District Attorney’s Office spokesperson said. The incident is being investigated by the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau and Garcia has been placed on desk duty.
