A Georgia man reportedly died of a heart attack while attempting to dispose of the body of a woman after allegedly strangling her in Alabama, according to investigators.
According to AL.com, District Attorney Mike Segrest said 44-year-old Daniel Robbins died after allegedly killing 47-year-old Jessica Folds. Deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office discovered a pickup truck blocked near County Road before locating Robbins and Folds in a nearby wooded area on June 10.
Investigation Findings
Officials said evidence gathered by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office indicates that Folds died from strangulation.
“Based on the investigation by ALEA and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, and the autopsy done by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location,” the district attorney said in a statement.
Segrest added that Robbins appeared to have suffered a fatal heart attack while attempting to dispose of Folds’ body.
Authorities said there is no evidence identifying the exact location where the alleged strangulation occurred, but investigators believe the case stemmed from a domestic incident.
Victim Remembered
Folds’ obituary described her as a mother of three who worked multiple jobs in the Auburn-Opelika area.
“Jessica touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world,” the obituary stated.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation is effectively closed following the deaths of both individuals.
