Two Charged With Drug Trafficking In South Carolina After 3 Pounds Of Cocaine Falls Out Of Woman’s Fake Pregnant Belly

According to an updated report from deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, police became suspicious of a man and a seemingly pregnant woman as they were driving on Interstate 85 on April 12.

The Sheriff’s Office said its Special Investigation Division and Directed Patrol Unit pulled the couple over during a “proactive patrol” on the highway. It is reported that the man was driving in an erratic manner, allegedly weaving through multiple lanes and nearly colliding with a semi-trailer truck.

After pulling their vehicle over, deputies walked up to the two suspects, and officials soon noticed that the woman, identified as Cemeka Dannette Mitchem, appeared “pregnant,” and quite nervous.

However, when police asked her and her male partner, Anthony Miller, when was their due date, they allegedly gave the officers “conflicting” information, which only made them look even more suspicious. They also allegedly gave two different answers as to the whereabouts of their final destination.

Then, when the woman saw that the police weren’t buying their story, she and the man both tried to take off on foot. This is when police say they saw cocaine fall out of the woman’s stomach.

The South Carolina authorities said that the woman was carrying the cocaine in a fake rubber pregnant belly, and the drugs fell to the ground when she got up to flee the scene.

Officers proceeded to seize the cocaine and they eventually caught up to the woman to arrest her. It is also reported that deputies also found marijuana in the couple’s vehicle.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the two suspects are believed to have been concealing more than 1,500 grams (or about 3.3 pounds) of cocaine at the time of being pulled over.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Interstate 85 is becoming an increasingly popular highway for drug traffickers to travel upon. In February, police busted a man who was accused of trafficking more than 500 grams of cocaine.

There was another bust where authorities seized another 108 pounds of cocaine, and a third bust with 48 pounds of cocaine.
