#Socialites, get into this! Rap legend Flavor Flav is opening up on his past battles with substance abuse. The iconic clock-wearing rapper revealed that his crack cocaine addiction cost him upwards of $2,600 a day, and lasted for 6 years straight.

Flavor Flav Reveals Crack Cocaine Addiction Cost Him $2,600 A Day For 6 Years Straight
While speaking with DJ Akademiks, on his ‘Off The Record’ Spotify podcast, the Public Enemy hype man reflected on his tumultuous past and how he survived to share his testimony — something he wholeheartedly believes God allowed him to do.
While diving into his past in the interview, Flav said, “I kind of maintained myself very well while I was on that sh*t, you feel me? And not only that, but I kept it hidden. A lot of people didn’t really know and they were trying to figure out. Like, ‘Yo is he on something? ‘Cause I never really let people know what exactly what I was doing.”
Flav continues, “I started letting people know what I was doing when I was getting tired of being like that. Because there’s a point in time in life to where you get tired of doing sh*t, man. Mainly, when it doesn’t get you no place.”
Flav goes on to recall how we wrote a book a few years back based on his life story, and talked about his crack cocaine addiction. The book is called, ‘Flavor Flav: The Icon The Memoir.’

Flav then reveals, “There was a time that I was spending $2,400-$2,600 a day for six years straight. You do the math. And that’s how much I spent on drugs.
I ain’t gonna lie, I sold a lot. But, I was my best customer. I had a lot. And I had a lot of money at the time. I was just doing the wrong things with my money. But, I guess God wanted me to live. And he knows that I’m a mouthpiece to the world. So, I feel like God let me live through that so that way I could teach people about the mistakes that I made; and hopefully they won’t make them later on in life.”
Flav then warns others about addiction, “Drugs [are] easy to get on and they’re hard as hell to get off.” Flav also speaks to rap back in the day being about dealing drugs, and how rap now is about consuming drugs and becoming an addict.
