NPC trendsetter PinkyDoll continues to be the talk of the internet. The TikToker recently made tons of headlines after making a shocking appearance at the 2023 Streamy Awards.

For those who missed it, on Monday (Aug. 28) PinkyDoll presented an award at the show that honored the best in content creation. While on stage, fans noticed that her physical appearance looked completely different from her viral videos as she appeared more brown-skinned. Many people are used to seeing Miss PinkyDoll in a blonde wig and much lighter skin. Of course, this sparked an online debate. While some labeled her a “marketing genius,” others have been accusing her of “light-skin fishing.”

One person said, “We all know how colorist our society is. 😭😭 So pinky doll using the light skin filter & really being Darkskin was SMART AF! Great marketing Get your money!” Another added, “Honestly I didn’t gaf about Pinkydoll until I found out she was using a filter to look light skin. Shawty finished the antiblack and colorist algorithm and got the bag. I stan.” A third said, “Naw that pinky doll lady portraying as a light skin woman is weird 🤷🏿‍♀️ I said what I said.” Welp, PinkyDoll is now responding to all the online commotion. In a new interview with TMZ, PinkyDoll mentioned that she can get a little darker when she gets into the sun but she’s ultimately proud to be a Black woman.

“Well you know when I go to the sun I can get a little bit darker but you know it’s life what can I do and I love to be a Black woman, fuck you mean?” She went on to say she thinks her critics “are just hating.”

More On NPC

NPC stands for Non-Player Character. In many video games, it refers to a character that is controlled by the game’s artificial intelligence rather than a player. NPCs are often used to interact with players, provide quests or missions, offer guidance, or simply add life and depth to the game world. Somehow, this made its way into the influencer world where creators act like those characters.

It’s been working for PinkyDoll who began her NPC influence in January 2023. Since then, she has garnered millions of fans and her TikTok followers have already hit 1.1 million.
