An online controversy is heating up, and the movie at the center of it hasn’t even hit theaters yet.
You Can’t Leave doesn’t arrive until October 16th, but hundreds of Christian creators and moms are already sounding the alarm, flooding timelines with warnings about what’s inside the film.
So what has everyone so shook? Allegedly, the movie’s demonic summoning and occult references were crafted and performed with the help of real occult experts. And that has folks asking the big question: does what happens in the movie really stay in the movie? Or will viewers walk out of the theater with something extra, the way Joey King did after The Conjuring or Gabourey Sidibe after American Horror Story?
The Christian influencers aren’t mincing words. They’re urging their followers to skip the film entirely and “Guard Their Hearts.” Meanwhile, mom influencers are coming at it from another angle, warning fellow mothers about how extreme scares and occult content could affect their teens.
But the horror community is NOT having it. The first post about the controversy, shared by @horrors, racked up over 55,000 shares, and horror fans clapped back hard, calling the whole thing a modern-day “Satanic Panic.”
And the comment sections? Let’s just say it’s a bloodbath. 🩸
Will you be seeing You Can’t Leave when it drops October 16th, or are you sitting this one out? Let us know.
