Their attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, filed the lawsuit on the behalf of students and siblings 17-year-old Riley, and 14-year-old Bella Franz. Fieger said Riley was shot in the neck while standing next to their sister during the shooting. The lawsuit accused school officials failed to prevent the attack that caused psychological and physical injuries to students and those listed in the suit included Superintendent Timothy Throne, Oxford Principal Steven Wolf, Dean Ryan Moore, and several other school staff members.

“The horror of November 30, 2021, was entirely preventable.
“At Oxford High School, they’ll search your backpack if they think you’re vaping, but they refused to suspend or search a student who wrote what we now know was reams of homicidal notes and drawings, scenes of classroom slaughter and mania,” Fieger said in a statement.

Fieger additionally stated that the siblings are honor students and Riley suffered an injury that has a 2 percent survival rate. The lawsuit also noted that multiple parents have warned Principal Wolf about the threats from Crumbley a week before the shooting. However, Wolf allegedly overlooked the threats.

The school district said in a statement that they are continuing to be cooperative with the Oakland Sheriff’s Office and Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
