Amid the passing of actress Daveigh Chase, her family and friends have raised serious concerns after her boyfriend reportedly launched a GoFundMe to cover her medical expenses in the final days of her life.
What Daveigh Chase’s Boyfriend Claims
According to TMZ, Roy Hernandez says he has been with Chase since 2019 and launched the GoFundMe while she was battling meningitis and blood infections. He claimed that she needed financial support. Hernandez has since stated that he intended to use the funds to ensure Chase received a proper memorial and cremation.
A former manager and longtime friend of Chase is pushing back on the fundraiser. He said that Chase’s family is unaware of Hernandez and that no one in her inner circle knows who he is. He also confirmed that Chase had more than enough funds to cover any expenses on her own.
“I can confirm Daveigh has a SAG trust account with more than enough funds to cover all medical and related expenses,” he stated. He is urging people not to contribute to the GoFundMe until it has been legitimately verified.
Daveigh Chase Had Millions in Unclaimed Residual Checks
The New York Post also reported that Chase had millions in unclaimed residual checks. She had signed a deal that entitled her to a portion of merchandise sales, residuals, theme park attractions, and other items that used her voice following the massive success of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch. Chase was just eight years old when she landed the iconic role.
