The black cat named Binx was spotted near the rubble at Champlain Towers South on Thursday and transported to the Kitty Campus, a rescue group. Binx is owned by the Gonzalez family and they lived in unit 904 until the devastating collapse. Angela Gonzalez and her daughter Deven were rescued from the debris and transported to the hospital for treatment. Angela’s husband Edgar is still missing and her older daughter Tayler was not home at the time of the collapse.

Since Binx’s rescue, she has been reunited with her family and their family friend called the situation a miracle.

“That’s actually Deven’s cat, so I’m sure she’s going to be over the moon knowing that they found her cat. I just can’t believe it. I just couldn’t believe it when we received the confirmation. This is a miracle for the whole Surfside community,” said Maria Gaspari.

According to the New York Post, other families have failed to pick up their pets before the entire building property was demolished despite last-minute efforts.
