A Washington, D.C. man is learning the hard way that not all food fights are a joke. Authorities say Sean Charles Dunn, 37, is facing a federal assault charge after allegedly hurling a Subway sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent.
According to a criminal complaint, Dunn’s late-night outburst turned into a felony case — one that could carry up to a year behind bars and some serious fines.
In the viral clip making its rounds online, Dunn can be heard shouting “Fascists!” and “Shame!” while pointing at officers on patrol.
Detective Daina Henry of the local transit police says Dunn got up close to the officer, yelling:
“***You! You ***! Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city.” Then, she says, he “wound his arm back and forcefully threw a sub-style sandwich” right at the federal agent.
Incident Comes Amid Trump’s Federal Takeover of D.C.
This wasn’t just some random street spat. The timing of the incident hits at the heart of political tension in the district. President Donald Trump has already sparked outrage with his heavy-handed push to flood D.C. with federal officers and National Guard troops.
On Tuesday, Trump deployed the first wave of federal agents, pulling in FBI, DEA, and Department of Homeland Security personnel. He made it clear during a Kennedy Center visit that this is “just the beginning.”
The move came under a rarely used clause allowing a temporary federal takeover of D.C.’s police department. Trump is now pushing Congress for a long-term presence but even hinted he might not need them, saying: “If it’s a national emergency, we can do it without Congress.”
It’s all part of his broader anti-migrant agenda — and he’s warning other U.S. cities they could be next.
Jeanine Pirro Vows to Prosecute to the Fullest
Dunn’s case is now in the hands of U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, a Trump appointee and former Fox News host who’s not shy about backing the president’s law-and-order mission.
In a fiery social media video, Pirro doubled down on her commitment: “President Trump has vowed to make DC safe and beautiful again. The president’s message to the criminals was: if you spit, we hit.”
Pirro didn’t hold back on Dunn either: “This guy thought it was funny. Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony, assault on a police officer.”
And she made one thing very clear — her team is riding for law enforcement 100%:
“We’re going to back the police to the hilt.”
