Another chapter in the messy Zolciak-Biermann family, and this one’s far heavier than the reality TV drama we are used to. According to TMZ, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak and ex-NFL linebacker Kroy Biermann, was taken into custody on August 17 in Alpharetta, Georgia, on charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery. As of now, he’s being held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center with no bond set, and a preliminary hearing is on the books for September 8.
According to court documents obtained by the news outlet, the case traces back to April 24, when police were called out to North Fulton Hospital after a report of sexual assault. Investigators say a teenage classmate of KJ’s, along with her father, told them the alleged incident actually happened a day earlier at a local gym.
The girl claims she was hanging out with KJ when the two ended up walking through a co-ed sauna area, and that things escalated in a way she says she never agreed to, despite telling him no. The alleged victim was examined at the hospital following the report, though police noted the exam didn’t turn up male DNA.
This drops right in the middle of an already ugly custody battle between Kim and Kroy, who split back in 2023 after 11 years of marriage. Kroy had been pushing for sole custody of the couple’s minor children, painting Kim as an unfit and unstable parent. Kim didn’t take that sitting down, firing back in March that “these accusations are completely false and nothing more than a deliberate attempt by Kroy to defame my character.” By May, though, a judge sided largely with Kroy, granting him primary physical custody of the younger kids — including KJ.
Neither Kim nor Kroy has publicly addressed their son’s arrest yet, and outlets reaching out for comment say they’ve gotten radio silence so far. The couple shares four biological children — KJ, 15-year-old Kash Kade, and 12-year-old twins Kane and Kaia — on top of Kroy having adopted Kim’s older daughters, Brielle and Ariana, from a previous relationship. It’s a lot for one family already stretched thin by financial trouble, a foreclosure scare, and a divorce that’s dragged through the tabloids for years.
