In a new interview with The Associated Press published Wednesday, Vice President Harris expressed her support for the investigations into former president, Donald Trump.

VP Harris said Mr. Trump and anyone else who played a role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, should be held accountable. “Let the evidence, the facts, take it where it may,” Harris said. “I spent the majority of my career as a prosecutor. I believe that people should be held accountable under the law. And when they break the law, there should be accountability.”

She continued, “Democracies are very fragile. They will only be as strong as our willingness to fight for it.”

Her interview comes as a Washington-based watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics has taken legal steps to make sure Donald Trump doesn’t become president again. This Wednesday, they officially filed the lawsuit. CREW President Noah Bookbinder explained that the organization is presenting the lawsuit because “it is necessary to defend our republic both today and in the future.” In an official statement, the group added, “Based on its laws, the calendar, and our courageous set of plaintiffs and witnesses, Colorado is a good venue to bring this first case, but it will not be the last.”

More On The Capitol Riots

As previously reported, on January 6, 2021, there was an event that unfolded in the United States known as the Capitol Hill riot or Capitol siege. A large group of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. The riot resulted in the evacuation and lockdown of the Capitol, destruction of property, injuries, and sadly, loss of life. The incident had significant implications for American democracy and led to the subsequent impeachment of President Trump for “incitement of insurrection.”

Furthermore, he has since been arrested in Georgia for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

During her interview which she filmed during her trip in Asia’s this week, she also addressed concerns that President Biden is too old for office or to take on another term.

“I see him every day,” Harris said of Biden. “A substantial amount of time we spend together is in the Oval Office, where I see how his ability to understand issues and weave through complex issues in a way that no one else can to make smart and important decisions on behalf of the American people have played out.” She went on to say that Biden is “ready” and noted that he “going to be fine.” As many are aware, Biden, 80, is the oldest person to run for president in U.S. history, Trump follows being him at 77.

Speaking on the possibilities of Biden’s health declining, Harris assured viewers that “Joe Biden is going to be fine, so that is not going to come to fruition,” Harris told The Associated Press in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she was attending a regional summit. “But let us also understand that every vice president — every vice president — understands that when they take the oath they must be very clear about the responsibility they may have to take over the job of being president.”
