Kodak Black has scored a major legal victory. A Broward County judge has officially dismissed the criminal charges against the rapper, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, following a traffic stop that occurred last February.
The charges stemmed from a February 27 incident where deputies alleged that Kapri had fled and resisted arrest after being ordered to stop. His legal team successfully argued that the incident was merely a misunderstanding, insisting there was no evidence to support the claim that he had attempted to flee. The judge agreed with the defense and tossed the case.

While this is a win for the Pompano Beach native, his legal troubles aren’t entirely behind him. Kapri is still facing a drug charge in Orlando after deputies allegedly discovered a bag containing MDMA and other substances inside a Lamborghini SUV he reportedly owns. According to the police report, Kapri denied the bag was his, though he did acknowledge that money found inside belonged to his business. As of now, the state attorney in Orlando has not formally filed charges in that matter.
Despite his ongoing legal headlines, Kapri remains a significant figure in his hometown. In July 2025, the city of Pompano Beach honored him with a key to the city, citing his extensive charitable work, including donating air conditioning units to local families and providing gifts and bicycles to children during the holidays.
As Kodak Black, Kapri has enjoyed a massive career, selling over 30 million singles and landing a No. 3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his 2022 hit, “Super Gremlin.”
