The B2K legend and his wife Mona Li Thornton are grieving the sudden passing of their infant son, Astro Monte Thornton, just months after welcoming him into the world. The news was confirmed through an exclusive family statement sent to The Shade Room.

Raz B and Monali welcomed Astro back in May, their second child together, and the singer had shared a heartfelt family portrait with his pregnant wife and their kids dressed in matching white and denim. At the time, Raz was gushing about finally getting to capture a real family photo after years of wanting one, and he showered his wife with praise for how she carried the pregnancy while he was out grinding on the road.

Speaking of the road, Monali had been holding it down hard while her husband was out on his Boys 4 Life Tour, nine months pregnant and still pulling up to support him. She’d posted about how much it meant to witness his greatness from the crowd and as his wife, all while carrying their son. The love between these two has never been in question, and that’s what makes this loss sting even harder for the people who’ve followed their journey.

Big sister Versai was hype too. The couple’s daughter, whose Instagram they manage, posted about welcoming her baby brother into the family and how amazing it already felt being a big sister. That “best week ever” post is circulating again now, except this time it’s bringing tears instead of smiles.

According to sources close to the family who also spoke with TMZ, Astro passed away earlier this week and his death was sudden and unexpected, with the cause still unclear at this time. Neither Raz-B nor Mona Li has publicly addressed the loss on their own platforms yet, and honestly, nobody should be rushing them to.

A family spokesperson, David Robinson, confirmed the infant’s passing to The Shade Room but the couple did not share additional details, including exactly when it happened. Astro was reportedly closing in on four months old.

The family is asking everybody to respect their space while they process this. In their statement, they made it clear privacy is what they need most right now, thanking fans in advance for their love and understanding as they navigate this difficult time.

Right now, the ask is simple: give the Thornton family grace, give them space, and keep them lifted in prayer. No further details have been released about services or what comes next, and out of respect for the family’s wishes, that’s likely to stay that way for a while. Our hearts are with Raz-B, Mona Li, Versai, and the rest of the Thornton family during this incredibly hard time.
