Apple is officially entering the foldable smartphone arena. The tech giant just unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first-ever foldable model, marking a major departure from its traditional handset design.
The iPhone Duo has a massive 7.6-inch internal display, which the company claims makes it the thinnest iPhone ever created. When fully unfolded, the device functions much like an iPad, offering an immersive experience that Apple hopes will redefine mobile productivity.

Alongside the Duo, Apple also introduced its standard iPhone 18 lineup, including the baseline model, the Pro 18, and the Pro Max 18, as well as the new AirPods 5.
For those looking to get their hands on the foldable tech, the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 with storage options up to 2 terabytes. It will be available in “star white” and “night sky” colorways. Preorders open on October 16, with the first units shipping on October 23.

To support the new hardware, Apple is rolling out software development kits, allowing developers to optimize their apps for the folding screen. Early adopters like Netflix, Zoom, and Slack have already updated their interfaces to take advantage of the expanded display.
The launch is a landmark moment for the company, arriving exactly seven years after Samsung debuted its Galaxy Fold. It also marks a new era for Apple, as it is the first major product reveal led by newly appointed CEO John Ternus, who took the reins from Tim Cook on September 1.
