City officials said authorities received multiple calls about four people passing out while waiting in line and workers from the Parks and Recreation Department started handing out water and ice. Chairs were also handed out so people could rest while waiting for a test but officials said testing supplies were not the cause of overcrowding at 3,000 to 5,000 people get tested at the site per day.

“There’s no other choice. We wish there was more efficiency. There should be. I know there’s a lot of government officials that could be helping out or opening up another site. I mean, have some water out here for folks. It’s Florida,” Greg Vondruska told WFLA.

The media outlet also reported that the testing center will reopen again on New Years Day but city officials want people to be better prepared in order to avoid any issues. Officials also plan to open a drive-thru testing site to lessen waiting times.
