A Connecticut man reportedly faked a positive COVID-19 result in order to appear for a criminal court appearance.

Junior Jumpp,31, was charged with several felonies this week after it was discovered he falsified the results that were submitted to a judge. Jumpp was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30 for allegedly violating release terms pending a criminal case and records showed he was arrested twice that month. A day before the hearing, Jumpp’s lawyer said his client submitted a screenshot of his COVID-19 test results from the Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. A judge excused Jumpp from appearing in court.
However, investigators later discovered that Jumpp fabricated the documentation and conducted the scheme in order to appear for court to avoid his bond revocation hearing.

Police arrested him on Tuesday and charged Jumpp with forgery and tampering with evidence in addition to the other charges from his previous case. He was placed on a $25,000 bond and his new court date is scheduled for Feb. 4.
