Tyla is officially setting the record straight on the claims that she “stole” the concept of Yung Miami’s song, “Take Me To Chanel.”
In April 2025, Miami, born Caresha Brownlee, first teased the song on social media. The song’s chorus repeatedly says, “Take me to Chanel.” By October 2025, Tyla had previewed her own version, entitled, “Chanel.” On her chorus, she repeatedly said, “Put me in Chanel.” While the beats of the two songs were indeed different, the concepts were very similar.
Subsequently, Miami believed Tyla had ran off with her song and took it as inspiration from her own track. Miami took to X and went off. She wrote, “This girl really ran off with my song and ion know how to feel about it. Mind you I played this song for this girl.”

Now confirming Miami’s comments, Tyla admits Miami played the song for her (and others). However, she claims months after the listening session, songwriter Bibi Bourelly hit her up about a song that would later become Tyla’s “Chanel.” Tyla set the record straight on the August 1 episode of Quenlin Blackwell’s podcast, ‘Feeding Starving Celebrities.’
The South African singer said when she accepted the song, she wasn’t thinking about Miami and hers. She claims many months had passed since she heard Miami’s record and that she really liked the song presented to her by Bourelly. Putting the rumors to rest, she confirms she loves Miami, calling her a “cool” girl, before singing acapella and dancing to Caresha’s viral “Spend Dat” song.
