“The ridiculous and baseless indictment of me by the Biden administration’s weaponized ‘department of injustice’ will go down as among the most horrific abuses of power in the history of our country,” he said.

Trump, 76, added, “We got to stand up to the … radical left Democrats, they’re lawless partisan prosecutors … Every time I fly over a blue state, I get a subpoena. I’ve put everything on the line and I will never yield. I will never be detained. I will never stop fighting for you.”

More On Donald Trump’s Legal Troubles

As we previously reported, on Thursday, the Justice Department finally took the legal step of slapping Trump with federal criminal charges. The ex prez is accused of mishandling classified documents he kept upon leaving office and then obstructing the government’s efforts to reclaim them. “The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been indicted,” Trump wrote, in one of several posts around 7 p.m. after he was notified of the charges.

In a video message that he released later on Truth Social, Mr. Trump declared: “I’m an innocent man. I’m an innocent person.”

In addition to him, an aide to former President Donald Trump has also been indicted in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the mishandling of classified documents from the Trump White House. It was said that Nauta had been seen helping move boxes from the storage room to Trump’s residence, according to the indictment.

“Nauta did in fact know that the boxes in Pine Hall had come from the Storage Room, as Nauta himself, with the assistance of Trump Employee 2, had moved the boxes from the Storage Room to Pine Hall; and Nauta had observed the boxes in and moved them to various locations at The Mar-a-Lago Club,” the indictment reads.

Donald Trump remains under investigation by for his wide-ranging efforts to retain power after his election loss in 2020, and how those efforts led to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by his supporters. He is also being heavily scrutinized for potential election interference by the district attorney’s office in Fulton County, Georgia.
