A Brazilian businesswoman is dead after checking into a Goiânia hospital for what should’ve been a life changing glow up and never walking back out.
According to TMZ, Andréia Vieira Gaspar, 51, spent two years stacking her coins roughly $23,000 USD for a full “mummy makeover” package that packed six procedures into one marathon session under the knife! We talkin’ a deep plane facelift, forehead lift, bony genioplasty, blepharoplasty, liposuction, and nanofat injections, all crammed into a single stretch under anesthesia that reportedly ran anywhere from 8 to 10 hours depending on who you ask. Miss Gaspar had been living out in Spain for the last five years but flew back to Brazil specifically for this surgery, trusting Dr. Lessandro Martins and the team at Ankar Hospital to handle her transformation.

Instead, according to Brazilian outlet G1 Goiás, she died on August 12, just hours after coming out the OR. And her sister, Djiane Vieira, isn’t letting this get swept under the rug quietly.
Per Djiane’s account, Andréia never even got a real, in person consultation before going under. Her pre-op bloodwork and tests were reportedly done all the way in Spain and just emailed over to the Brazilian medical team, and that paperwork reportedly flagged a bacterial infection before she ever hit the table. Doctors allegedly proceeded with the surgery anyway. Not one procedure. Six. For nearly a full workday.
Andréia came out of surgery visibly swollen, struggling to breathe, her tongue reportedly ballooning to the point it was terrifying. Djiane says she was blowing up the medical team’s phones as her sister’s condition tanked overnight and at one point, according to Djiane, Andréia texted her own words that she knew what was coming: “Sis, I’m dying.” Djiane told G1, “My sister is dying. For God’s sake. You answer the phone, but nobody shows up.”
By the time anybody with real emergency training showed up, it was too late. Family members claim the hospital didn’t even have an ICU or an ambulance on standby for a procedure that heavy. The official cause of death came back as acute thrombosis and a pulmonary infarction, basically a blood clot that choked off part of her lung.
Now despite their claims, Ankar Hospital’s legal team is pushing back hard on the neglect claims, telling G1 in a statement that Gaspar “received immediate emergency care” and that all “necessary measures were taken” once things went left.
In a statement to TMZ, Dr. Lessandro Martins said, “Out of respect for medical confidentiality, which persists even after death, as mandated by the Medical Code of Ethics, no interviews will be granted, nor will comments be made regarding clinical data… The doctor trusts that the investigation will demonstrate the correctness of the care provided.”
