A family in Eufaula, Alabama is tearfully demanding answers and justice after spending five days searching for their missing son and finding him shot dead, dismembered, and set on fire in the woods.
On May 7, 18-year-old Markavious Dewayne Rumph Jr. (aka “Lill Mark”) was reported missing. He was last seen leaving his grandmother’s home and getting into a car with a friend. Shortly after, the family learned he might have been in danger.
Subsequently, Markavious’ parents, Yolanda Wynn and Marcus Dewayne Rumph, organized a family-led search party with relatives and volunteers. Five days later, on the evening of May 11, Marcus found his teenage son’s remains in the woods off of White Oak Church Road.

Marcus told WRBL News 3, “They basically, shot my baby, burnt him up, and chopped him up… I’m dealing with it as best I can right now.” Yolanda told the outlet, “I looked for five days for my son, with no help from the Eufaula Police Department, no help. Me and family, in the rain, on Mother’s Day. I walked around through those woods.”
Breaking out in tears, Yolanda repeatedly declared, “They gotta pay. They all gonna pay. Everybody that’s involved, I want them to pay for my son. Everybody.” The family believes someone close to their son is responsible for his death.
The family says Markavious had just earned his GED and was preparing to enroll at Wallace Community College to study welding. He leaves behind his parents and three siblings: brothers DaMarkis Deyun Rumph and Zakalien Zarkel Walker, and sister, Zion Amari’ann Streeter.
After the family’s discovery, Eufaula Police and the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to begin investigating. Authorities have identified suspects, but have not yet revealed their identifies nor made any arrests, but say they are close to charging the suspects. The investigation remains active.
Additionally, police have not officially identified the victim. According to WTVM, the recovered remains were so brutalized that state forensic lab officials were not able to make a positive identification. However, the Rumph family is certain the human remains found belong to their son.
