Osundairo Brothers Say The Timing Of Jussie Smollett’s Rehab Is Suspicious: “You Could’ve Checked In Months Ago!”

The Osundairo Brothers think something is fishy and they’re pointing their fingers at Jussie Smollett.

As we previously reported, the former “Empire” recently actor entered rehab and is seeking treatment in an outpatient program for undisclosed reasons. However, a statement from a representative for Smollett read, “Jussie has had an extremely difficult past few years. He has quietly been working very hard for some time now and we are proud of him for taking these necessary steps.” A source also told Fox News Digital, “He’s been wanting to go to rehabilitation and deal with life in a significant and thoughtful way.”

Smollett’s time in rehab comes amid the actor awaiting an appeal from his controversial Chicago criminal case that dates back to 2019, when he was found guilty of lying to police about being attacked by two masked Trump supporters. The Osundairo brothers, whose testimony was critical in convincing a jury to convict him, are speaking out again to react to the rehab news. Abimbola “Bola” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo tell TMZ that they find it “very interesting that he decided to check in at this moment on the verge of the appeal being decided upon. I think anyone with a brain can find it a little suspicious.”

They went on to say, “Many people are skeptical… I’m not the only one that’s skeptical. I’m not the only one that thinks it seems a little off that he’s doing it at this time.. you could’ve checked in 2 years ago, you could’ve checked in 1 years ago, or eight months ago… but it’s now? I don’t know… it’s a little weird to me.”

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – MARCH 10: Actor Jussie Smollett is led out of the courtroom after being sentenced at the Leighton Criminal Court Building on March 10, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. Jussie Smollett was found guilty late last year of lying to police about a hate crime after he reported to police that two masked men physically attacked him, yelling racist and anti-gay remarks near his Chicago home in 2019. He was sentenced to 150 days in jail, 30 months probation, ordered to pay $120,000 restitution to the city of Chicago and fined $25,000. (Photo by Brian Cassella-Pool/Getty Images)

The brothers say they believe Smollett decided to check in now to hopefully get on house arrest when it’s finally time to go back to court to sort out his appeal. “But also to gain sympathy from the people that are deciding upon this case and to show that he has an issue, a problem going on that will help his case,” the brothers said.

They went on to say that they never knew Smollett as someone who had a drug addiction. “Absolutely not. I never knew him to have a drug issue, to abuse drugs. I know he would use it recreationally… but abuse it or to use a lot? no I’ve never known him as that type of person.

Despite those feelings, the brothers are hoping Jussie gets the help he needs: “Truth will set him free.”
