“She’s Doing Everything by Herself”: Viral Video Shows Young Mom Holding Down an Entire Burger King Shift Solo

Folks online are giving a hard working South Carolina mother her flowers, while Burger King is catching heat after it was revealed she was allegedly left to run an entire restaurant shift by herself!!

In a TikTok video shared earlier this month, 25-year-old Nykia Hamilton was seen handling everything at a Burger King location. From the fries to the burgers to the chicken sandwiches, one customer captured the moment and said what everybody else was thinking:

“She’s doing everything by herself.”

The clip quickly gained traction online, and now Hamilton is sharing her story—and y’all, it’s heartbreaking.

“One of my employees just quit on me, and they didn’t have anyone else to come in, so I had to work by myself and close by myself,” she told WACH News.

“Had to do the dishes, do prep, do the floor, do the front counter, drive-thru.”

And through it all, this dedicated mama was holding back tears when she said:

“I be missing out on my kids’ lives when I work so much. I have to provide for them, but I really don’t have time to spend with them, and it hurts me a lot.”

More Than Just a Job: “I Do Have a Record… And By Grace of God, She Gave Me a Job”

To some, working at Burger King might be “just a job.” But to Nykia Hamilton, it’s more than that—it’s a lifeline.

“I wouldn’t have no job because I do have a record, and it is hard to find a job with a record,” she shared. “And by grace of God, she gave me a job. So that’s the only reason why I stayed—for her,” Hamilton added, referencing her manager.

Hamilton is currently working two jobs just to stay afloat and take care of her babies. She’s not complaining. She’s doing what she has to do—but the system shouldn’t be set up like this.

Burger King Responds as Support Pours In for the Viral Mom of 3

As the video continues to go viral, Burger King finally responded with a statement to WACH News, saying:

“At Burger King, it is our policy that all company and franchise-owned restaurants require more than one Team Member to be working per shift. We are working with the Franchisee of this location to understand what happened and take any necessary action.”

But for a lot of people, that statement wasn’t enough. The real question is: how did it get to this point in the first place?
