Wendy Williams Was Left ‘Penniless’ Because Of Her Ex-Financial Adviser, Says Former Attorney, Who Denies Kevin Hunter Jr. Charging $100k To His Mom’s AmEx Card

LaShawn Thomas, who legally represented Wendy Williams up until recently, has spoken out about the former talk show host’s issues in gaining access to her multi-million-dollar fortune. As previously revealed by Williams herself, her ex-financial adviser, Lori Schiller — who works at Wells Fargo — was alleged to have frozen all of her bank accounts and began ignoring her calls.

Thomas makes it clear in an interview with Page Six that Williams’ financial situation has been so intense that she has not even been able to check her balance and was practically left “penniless.” He stressed that Schiller alongside “the Wells Fargo adviser and [former manager Bernie Young] were the only people with access. … They left Wendy to die.” The reason why a heap of charges have been piling up on Williams’ AmEx card is simply that it’s the only way she is believed to be paying all of her living expenses. Not to mention the flights he said she’s taken to and from New York to attend doctor’s appointments, have certainly raised to a hefty amount.

Thomas added, that Wendy’s son Kevin Hunter Jr. has tremendously helped “both mentally and physically with the assistance of a team of doctors. He coordinated all of her appointments, made sure she attended all appointments, cooked and cleaned for his mother. He absolutely loves his mother without question, and no one should place any blame or allegations of wrongdoing at his feet.”

Kevin Hunter Jr.’s bills were supposed to have been paid by Schiller, but those payments haven’t been made in a long time, he continued, and that if Williams or her son ever needed money, it would allegedly have to be approved by one of her Wells Fargo advisers.

Schiller had spoken to Hunter Jr. on one occasion and told him — out of nowhere — she would no longer be able to communicate with him unless she was to receive written authorization from Williams. When the former radio host then went to Wells Fargo to hand over her notice that her son’s requests should be approved, Thomas claims the motion was refused.

“Instead, [Schiller] locked Wendy out of all of her accounts,” Thomas went on to say. “[Schiller] restricted all access to every single account. Wendy was even restricted from going to the bank and personally withdrawing funds… Wendy, a woman who has worked hard for her wealth, was left penniless,”
