A Texas family is demanding answers and justice as their viral horse named “Black Lives Matter” mysteriously dies after a routine procedure. The family named the racing horse BLM as a way to bring further awareness to the movement.

Viral Horse Named ‘Black Lives Matter’ Mysteriously Dies During Routine Procedure
BLM went super viral in January 2022 after winning his first race at the Sam Houston Derby Trials in Houston. BLM then went on a winning streak, and had everyone talking about him.
But a few months later, his family took him to get a routine procedure done. According to a video posted by BLM’s family, they took him to get a procedure for sperm collection.
Keeundra Hatley-Smith said:
“We took our horse BLM an hour away for a VET for a short, simple procedure that will collect sperm for future breeding and also have her castrated so that she can perform without overactive hormones. and have better success during the race.
We left him healthy! But when we returned to pick him up he didn’t respond. We saw this camera right above the stall where he was kept after the procedure.”
And to make matters worse, the company told the family that the camera in BLM’s stall was not recording. They claim, “It’s not there and we don’t know why.”
In the video, the family says that they requested for BLM to be sent to a pathologist for an autopsy.
The family also shared a screenshot of text messages with the vet saying that they were about to cancel the castration because they won’t be able to be there in person and record the process.
However, against the family’s wishes, the vet continued with the operation. The family said, “There is no proof of post op care and documentation. We are so hurt!”

In a quick clip of the incident, Keeundra writes on her Instagram:
“It’s been a hard couple of days! But this is proof that Black people AND THIER PETS are neglected in all aspects of the medical fields.
My children loved him and knew exactly what his name stood for. Now it’s gone! We will get justice for you big fella, you won your race.”
Ke’elronn Hatley, also shared the clip and said:
“This was unbelievable to get disrespected like that and then hours later get a call that he was dead, Coincident REALLY!!! This one hurt y’all I’m lost of words thanks for all the support we are deeply involved on getting too the bottom of this BLM ✊🏿”
At the end of the viral video of the incident, the family says, “We need answers and we want justice!”
