The man who was arrested on a murder charge for the killing of Migos rapper Takeoff has been denied an additional bond reduction. According to Rolling Stone, a judge ordered Patrick Clark’s bail to remain set at $1 million.
Initially, his bond was set at $2 million. However, his lawyers argued it was “excessive and penal in nature.” Following a hearing on Dec. 14, Judge Josh Hill agreed to lower Clark’s bond to $1 million.
In another attempt to get that number lowered, Clark’s attorney further requested $300,000. After feeling optimistic about their latest move, a judge ruled this Wednesday, Dec. 28, against Clark and kept the bail set at $1 million. The reason? Well, according to NBC 2 in Houston, Hill said Clark is a possible flight risk because he had his passport on him and an itinerary for Mexico when he was taken into custody. They also believe that he had a plan in place after allegedly committing the crime.
“According to court documents, Takeoff alleged killer, Patrick Clark (DJ Pat) applied for an Emergency Passport days after killing Takeoff and booked a flight to Mexico,” DJ Akademiks previously shared. “When police arrested him, he had large amounts of cash on him. Prosecutors claim he’s a flight risk for bond.”
What’s Their Next Move?
Although his legal can appeal, Clark’s lawyer, Letitia Quinones, tells Rolling Stone that they “plan to exercise all legal remedies available by law.”
Clark’s attorney said the suspect’s family is also willing to put up their Houston-area home as collateral to help bond him out of jail. In addition to that, the whole family will co-sign a bond issued by a bondsman if lowered, which Mark Metze, a bail bondsman, said the family has already taken care of.
More On What Happened To Takeoff
As we previously reported, Takeoff, who was one-third of the platinum-selling rap group Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas, last month.
Takeoff was at a private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston with Quavo around 2:35 a.m. when investigators say shots rang out. Sadly, the gunfire struck Takeoff multiple times and he was later pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims — a 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female — also were hit but had non-life threatening injuries.
The Harris County coroner’s office confirmed to Billboard that the late star’s primary cause of death was “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm.”
Takeoff was just 28-years-old.

As a result of this horrific incident, Clark was eventually arrested and the 33-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges against him.
