This is just absolutely heartbreaking. Socialites, a mother of five children died last week in Texas after being run over while defending one of her kids from her bullies. The incident occurred last week when Ashley Lopez’s 11-year-old daughter was confronted by a group of school students at her San Antonio home in the evening hours of January 11.

According to KENS 5, it wasn’t long before a huge brawl erupted in the street involving the 11-year-old and “15 to 30 other people,” per the police report, and as soon as Lopez took notice, she rushed over in an effort to protect her daughter. That’s when a woman named Pennie Gomez, 36, hopped into her Hyundai Sonata and deliberately drove over Lopez and another woman, eyewitnesses told cops.

Upon plowing into the two women, people began to bang on Gomez’s window, telling her she had run someone over, but without a care in the world, she sped off and dragged both victims for several feet with her. While the unnamed woman involved in the hit-and-run survived, Lopez tragically died from her injuries. Gomez has since been arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as charges pertaining to drug possession.

Cops are still investigating the fatal incident to determine why the suspect intentionally plowed through Lopez, with unconfirmed reports claiming Gomez may have been a family member of one of the kids that came to fight Lopez outside of her home.  Thanks to cellphone footage recorded by some of the teenagers, they have already compiled enough evidence proving that Gomez was allegedly behind the wheel of the Hyundai when she hit an unidentified woman and Lopez.

The family of the deceased mother confirmed that they, too, had no ties to Gomez and are just as puzzled as to why their loved one was targeted in the attack, having stripped five children away from their mother.

What’s more,  when police arrested Gomez, they found out she was already wanted by law enforcement officials on unrelated charges
