Minnesota Timberwolves star LaMelo Ball is opening up about his role as a new father—and admitting that diaper duty is not part of his responsibilities at home.
During Wednesday night’s episode of Inside the NBA, Ball was asked about caring for his 9-month-old son, LaOne, whom he shares with model Ana Montana. The NBA player candidly revealed that Montana handles most of the baby’s daily care, including changing diapers.

“My girl do all that. It’s love, for sure,” Ball told the hosts.
“She do all that, you know what I’m saying? We got a good game plan going on,” he added. “So I know what I gotta do to bring to the table. She know what she gotta do to bring to the table.”
Ernie Johnson Jr. then joked that Ball did not know “what [he was] missing” by avoiding diaper changes. Ball clarified that he has changed his son’s diapers before but does not consider it part of his regular responsibilities.
“I did it before, you feel me?” Ball said.
“I’ve definitely did it before, [but] it’s just not my job. You know what I’m saying? It’s not my job,” he reiterated.
Ball and Montana welcomed their first child in January, but they waited several months before publicly announcing his birth. The couple revealed the news in May while also launching I Am Fertility, a nonprofit and grant initiative designed to support women navigating fertility treatments and IVF.
Montana, whose real name is Analicia Chaves, celebrated her son in an emotional Instagram post on May 10.

“To my little ONE🤍🙏🏾 thank you for choosing me to be your mommy 🥹🙏🏾,” she wrote.
“I love you more than any word could ever describe! You’re my purpose and you’ve helped me become the woman I was always destined to be! Before I became your mommy, my heart was always looking for you 🥹🥰 and we finally found each other in Gods perfect divine timing,” she continued.
Montana added, “We love you so much baby boy! You are living proof that dreams come true 🤍.”
Ball and Montana first sparked dating rumors in late 2021 before confirming their relationship publicly on Instagram in June 2023. They have continued to keep much of their family life private, including delaying the announcement of their son’s arrival.
Although Ball says diaper changes are primarily Montana’s responsibility, he indicated that the couple has developed a division of duties that works for them. “We got a good game plan going on,” he said, emphasizing that both parents understand what they are expected to contribute at home.
