Disney Pulls ABC’s ‘The Bachelorette’ After Video Shows Taylor Frankie Paul Abusing Ex In Front Of Kids, Reality Star Speaks
As we previously shared, on Thursday (March 19), TMZ published footage from a 2023 domestic violence incident. The video showed Paul abusing her ex/daughter’s father, Dakota Mortensen, in front of their child and Paul’s other kids. Paul was eventually arrested over the incident. At the time, the police report alleged that she threw a chair at her then-boyfriend, which in turn, hit her daughter.
Paul pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault. Additional charges of child abuse, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child were all dismissed. She spoke about the dismissed charges in her September 2025 interview with ‘Call Her Daddy.” She the charges ‘were all dropped,” and called the incident the “hardest time” in her life.
Hours after the release of the horrifying clip of Paul abusing her ex in front of their children, Disney-ABC pulled her season of ‘The Bachelorette.’ The move arrived just three days before the show was set to premiere on Sunday (March 22).
A Disney Entertainment Television spokesperson said in a statement:
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
The move also arrived days after Paul’s other reality show — on which she first gained notoriety, ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives‘ — paused its 5th season. According to Variety, Hulu confirmed they shut down production amid a new domestic violence investigation involving Paul and Mortensen — stemming from an incident at the end of February 2026.
Taylor Frankie Paul Reps Release Statement After Disney Cancels ABC’s ‘The Bachelorette’ Following Video Of Taylor Abusing Ex In Front Of Kids
Following the DV video leak, a spokesperson for Paul released a statement on Thursday (March 19). They called the leak “desperate” and claiming it “omits context.” The initial statement read:
“It’s sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child. Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son’s birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences.”
Hours later, Paul’s reps shared a second statement after Disney-ABC cancelled her season, Season 22, of ‘The Bachelorette.’ The statement read:
“Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm. There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives. Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation, and public shaming. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story.
