Snoop Dogg has shared the distressing final moments he shared with his late friend Tupac Shakur, who was involved in a Vegas drive-by shooting in September 1996. The “All Eyez On Me” lyricist, who was riding with Death Row Records founder Marion Suge Knight at the time of the incident, was taken to the hospital, where he remained unconscious for six days before succumbing to his injuries. The shooter was never identified. It’s evidently no secret that Snoop and Tupac shared a close bond in the ’90s, both professionally and personally, having collaborated on a handful of hit songs together, including “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted,” “All About U,” and “Gangster Party.”
During his interview on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast earlier this week, Snoop opened up about his final memory of Pac and how the experience ended up taking a toll on his own health. “We’re just talking to Suge and he’s got his head wrapped up and he’s telling us what happened, you know, ‘Pac’s gonna be all right. He’s gonna pull through. He got shot nine times before. He’s gonna be alright,'” the 50-year-old remembered. “So we’re feeling like it’s gonna be alright, until we go to the hospital and see that it ain’t alright. He got tubes in. When I walked in, I could just feel like he wasn’t even there, and I fainted.”

Snoop said he was then taken to a nearby bathroom by Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, who told him to stay strong even though things were already looking like they were bound to lead to an unhappy ending. “Then his mother got me up and walked me to the bathroom and had a conversation with me about being strong. She was like, ‘My baby ain’t never seen you weak. I don’t want you to be weak in front of him. You go in the bathroom and fix yourself up and you go back in here and you talk to him and you tell him how you feel. My baby loves you.'”
Snoop Dogg Buys Death Row Records
As fans will recall, Snoop went ahead and purchased Suge’s Death Row Records, which was once partially owned by Dr. Dre. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Snoop acquired the label from MNRK Musik Group, a company which is controlled by private equity funds — but it remains unclear how much he paid to become the new owner of Death Row, which was at one point one of the most prominent labels in Hip Hop.
“It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me,” Snoop said in a statement. “I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality.”
