The San Antonio Spurs are shaking up their broadcast booth. According to a new report from Front Office Sports on Thursday, 29-year-old play-by-play announcer Jacob Tobey has been fired.

“Jacob Tobey is out as the Spurs’ play-by-play announcer after his girlfriend accused him of cheating on her with the sister of a player on the team, sources told FOS,” the outlet reported, adding, “Tobey’s girlfriend posted about the alleged affair on his Instagram story in the middle of the night.”

The drama unfolded on Tuesday, July 7, when Tobey’s Instagram Story was taken over by someone who appeared to be his partner of six years.

“This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. So feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not. :),” the post said over a photo of Tobey and his now-ex-girlfriend.

The unauthorized posts didn’t stop there. A second slide featured a photo booth snap of the announcer kissing a woman with the caption, “Me and the new girl LorenkWaters :).” Loren Waters is the sister of Spurs player Lindy Waters III.

The person behind the posts—widely believed to be Tobey’s ex—also took aim at his professional life, updating the caption of a photo showing him singing the national anthem at a Spurs game to “#cheater,” according to screenshots circulating on X.

The viral posts were deleted shortly after, but not before they made their way across the internet.
