Retired Zappos CEO Tony Hseih Passes Away At 46

Former CEO of Zappos Tony Hseih has passed away at 46 after reportedly sustaining injuries from a house fire.

According to the New York Post, the news was confirmed by DTP spokeswoman Megan Fazio who said, “With a heavy and devastating heart, we regret to inform you that Tony Hsieh passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020, surrounded by his beloved family, Tony’s kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone around him, and forever brightened the world.”  His exact cause of death is currently unknown.

Hsieh started in the tech industry in 1998 and sold his first company to Microsoft at the age of 24. Afterward, he used the funding to launch a Venture Capital firm which led to the creation of Zappos. He eventually sold the online shoe retailer to Amazon for $1.2 billion in 2009 and launched his other company DTP in 2012.

DTP is an investment company that has acquired 45 acres in Las Vegas and invested over $350 million in real estate developments and small businesses. Fazio continued to add that the young CEO touched various lives throughout his career and personal life.

Tony was highly regarded by all of his fellow friends and colleagues in the tight-knit family at DTP Companies, so this heartbreaking tragedy is one that affects many involved.

We ask that you continue to respect the family’s privacy during this most difficult and challenging time.”
