A spokesperson for Senator Mitch McConnell says the 84-year-old Republican is still kicking and hasn’t kicked the bucket despite death rumors following his latest health scare. Recently, the longtime Kentucky Senator was again rushed to the hospital on June 14 after being found unconscious in his Washington, D.C. home.
Initial reports only shared that he had suffered an unspecified medical issue. At the time, former the Senate Majority Leader’s spokesperson, David Popp, released a brief statement. He said McConnell was taken to the hospital that morning and was receiving “excellent care.”
However, Popp didn’t share any further details on McConnell’s medical scare — which has followed a series of health problems over the years.

According to Kentucky’s WKYT, reps for the longtime Kentucky Senator said:
“Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The Senator continues to improve, and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.”
Months before this latest health incident, McConnell was in the hospital due to flu-like symptoms in February. Before that, in October 2025, he fell hard in a U.S. Capitol Building hallway while being hit with tons of questions about ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
McConnell was quickly helped up and he walked on, appearing uninjured. McConnell has served as one of Kentucky’s two senators since 1985. In February 2025, he announced that he would not seek re-election. The announcement arrived just two weeks after his then-latest fall left him in a wheelchair. U.S. Rep. Andy Barr (R) and Charles Booker (D) are now seeking to replace McConnell in the fall.
