Rapper Mystikal Arrested And Booked For First-Degree Rape

Rapper Mystikal has been arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on his third count of alleged sexual crimes.  The entertainer from New Orleans has been accused of rape twice in the past two decades.

According to arrest records, Mystikal, real name Michael Tyler, was arrested Sunday and booked on several charges, including false imprisonment and first-degree rape, per ABC News affiliate station WBRZ2. Initially, he was booked at Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office before being transported to Ascension Parish Jail, where he is awaiting arraignment according to records. It’s noted that he was booked at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday (Jul. 31).

Records show that he’s been hit with charges including felony first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery; strangulation. He is also facing charges of false imprisonment and simple criminal damage. It is stated that the offenses committed were dated Sunday at 9:21 a.m.

So far, full details on his latest arrest have yet to be shared and no bond has yet been posted for the rapper following his Sunday arrest.

Dating back to 2004, Mystikal previously faced sexual crime allegations after reportedly sexually assaulting his hairstylist, according to multiple news outlets.

In 2017, he was arrested again and even surrendered himself to police after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest on an assault that allegedly happened in a Shreveport casino. However, the charges from 2017 were eventually dropped, and Mystikal was released from jail on a $3 million bond.

He maintained his innocence throughout
but admitted he and his accuser had a consensual sexual encounter. Forwarding to December 2020, when a second grand jury declined to indict Mystikal on the offenses, citing new information that wasn’t presented to the first jury. At the time, Mystikal spoke out and said the legal battle felt like “a reoccurring bad dream.”

“I didn’t know how it was going to work out …” he said. “Don’t put yourself in situations where things like this can happen. I’m too old for that. I don’t do the groupies on the road (anymore). I don’t perform at the show and get the ladies (excited) and get her all goo-goo-eyed and take advantage (of being a celebrity) … That was a young Mystikal,” he said in an interview with the Associated Press.

Due to his current circumstance, Mystical or a rep for him has not yet released a statement on his latest arrest.

Other celebrities who are dealing with heavy sexual assault claims are R. Kelly and Cleveland Browns’ NFL player Deshaun Watson.

The singer is already serving 30 years, but now he faces another federal prosecution, scheduled to start in August in Chicago. Meanwhile, the quarterback is out six games for violating its personal conduct policy following accusations of sexual misconduct made against him by two dozen women in Texas.
