Officer Resigns For Lying About Being Carjacked After Driving Drunk Into Pond
A former Kissimmee police officer has resigned after he allegedly lied about being carjacked to cover up the fact that he drove drunk into a pond.
WFTV reports that in November 2020, Orange County police responded to a 7-Eleven on Orange Blossom Trail after officer George Hazelton made a call claiming that he had been carjacked.
“There was like, four dudes who pulled me the (expletive) out,” Hazelton said claimed.
According to the internal affairs investigation, Hazelton said he planned to “drive home and decided against it because he believed he consumed too much alcohol.” This is when he claims he was carjacked.

However, a witness reports seeing the truck drive off the road into a pond and Hazelton’s clothes were soaking wet, and he strongly smelt of alcohol. In addition, he also had his keys.
“I got away from them, I still have my (expletive) keys, I don’t know how they got my (expletive), I don’t know where my (expletive) truck is at, OK?” Hazelton claimed.
Hazelton was given a ride home and put on immediate leave, but investigators could not place Hazelton behind the wheel since he was located away from the scene of the crash.
“Beyond his immediate conduct not being appropriate; the lives he put in jeopardy beyond his own; the fact that he involved and made that serious allegation and it covered three jurisdictions, I’m extremely disappointed,” Chief Jeff O’Dell said of his former officer.
