Morgan Wallen’s Music Soars On iTunes Despite Racial Slur Backlash

Despite backlash over his use of a racial slur, including his record label deal being suspended, Country singer Morgan Wallen‘s music is soaring over on iTunes. Earlier this week, a video surfaced of Wallen walking to his Nashville home and telling someone to “take care of this p***y motherf***er,” adding, “Take care of this p***y ass n***er.” Wallen has since apologized for his use of the slur.

After the video went viral, Wallen’s record label, Big Loud, not only announced they’d be suspended him “indefinitely,” but iHeart and Cumulus Media networks decided to remove the 27-year-old singer’s music from their stations, and he was also barred from the ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards.

While he’s being shunned from these networks and platforms, Apple’s iTunes charts are still standing with open arms for the ousted Country crooner. On Thursday (Feb. 4), Wallen had the number on song with “More Than My Hometown.” His song “Wanted on You” was also number two, with other selections sitting at four, five, six, eight and ten spots. He also monopolized the album charts with ‘Dangerous: The Double Album‘ at number one and number two with ‘If I Know Me.’ Plus, on the top ten county songs list, he took up nine out of ten spots.

As mentioned, Wallen apologized for his actions stating, “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.
