Michigan School District Requiring Students To Wear Clear Bookbags Weeks After Oxford School Shooting

The Oxford school district has enforced a new policy where students are required to wear clear bookbags in the next school year.

Superintendent Tim Throne confirmed the new mandate weeks after the deadly school shooting that was carried out by Ethan Crumbley. He says, “Safety, both physical and emotional, is at the top of our list. We are doing clear backpacks for middle-school,  Bridges, and high-school students when they return, We have therapy dogs in all the buildings, we have counselors scheduled in all the buildings, trauma specialists scheduled in all the buildings, as well as private security in all the buildings.”

Students are expected to return to school on January 3. Currently, Crumbley is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.

According to the New York Post, Thorne said there were recent threats made on social media that are currently under investigation by school officials and police.

Crumbley’s parents, Jennifer and James, are also facing manslaughter charges for refusing to address their son’s behavior before the shooting.
