LeBron James Sued For $33M Over ‘More Than An Athlete’ Slogan

Los Angeles Laker LeBron James is being sued for $33 million for allegedly stealing his UNINTERRUPTED slogan, “More Than An Athlete.”

Maryland-based and youth non-profit Game Plan says LBJ stole their slogan for his brand, claiming they’ve used the motto “I Am More Than an Athlete” since 2016, and obtained its trademark in 2018.

The youth organization is reportedly convinced that the baller stole the idea after seeing staffers wearing tees with the slogan to a 2017 Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards game. UNINTERRUPTED, responded, “meritless and contains numerous factual inaccuracies.” #Socialites, thoughts?

Wholly, they said, “The complaint filed by Game Plan today is meritless and contains numerous factual inaccuracies. Uninterrupted owns prior rights in and to the ‘More Than An Athlete’ trademark.”

Additionally, the organization states in its lawsuit, “The attendance at the game gave Game Plan tremendous exposure, as it was able to gain attention from John Wall in front of his peers including the (arguably) most famous athlete in the world, as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, at the time, LeBron James.”

They provided additional support, noting that LBJ began using the phrase in 2018, in a response during his infamous Laura Ingraham “Shut Up and Dribble” incident; leading him to post the below on his Instagram feed.

Game Plan claims they own the rightful trademark, are entitled to all profits, and are seeking no less than $33 million.

In addition to LBJ’s UNINTERRUPTED brand, they’re also suing Nike, Disney, and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.
