LeBron James Sending Nearly 200 Students To College Tuition Free
Via his I PROMISE School network, NBA baller LeBron James is planning to send nearly 200 students involved to college, tuition free.
LBJ partnered with Ohio’s Kent State University to grant those 193 students free tuition (~$11K/yr) for four years, including free room and board for one year.

Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation, stated, “The I PROMISE program is built on the ‘earned, not given’ philosophy. We are so excited that our students that have worked incredibly hard have earned even more life-changing opportunities to grow and excel.”
Todd Diacon, Kent State President, added, “We are so pleased to take our partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation to this next level and welcome these students fully into the Kent State family. Kent State looks forward to the time when our campus is teeming with I PROMISE students.”

As previously mentioned, the tuition for one year at Kent State is about $11K a year; times 4 years for 193 students amounts to over $8M.
In order to meet the school and LBJ halfway, the students are required to maintain a good standing with the school via class attendance, grading and volunteer work around the community.
While you can learn more about the I PROMISE School and its latest initiatives here, Kent State is also launching a fundraising effort here, for any additional expenses for the students; like books and the remaining three years of room and board.
