Kourtney Kardashian is making it no secret that she wants to have a baby with Travis Barker. While she didn’t endure any problems when she conceived her three children with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, the TV star has found the process much more challenging this time around. In last night’s episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney stressed how she struggled with her IVF medication, which had left her feeling bloated, depressed, and “brought on menopause.”
In her confessional, the 43-year-old shared that she and Travis were adamant about having a child together, with their doctor recommending the pair take the IVF route. But Kourtney later complained that the prescribed drugs had left her feeling anything but herself as she turned to her mother, Kris Jenner, for some desperate need of advice.

The Poosh founder shared that going on social media and seeing people bombard her with comments that she may be pregnant didn’t sit well with Kourt because the extra weight she’s gained was purely from the IVF treatments — not because she actually had a bun in the oven. “Every single person on social media is always like, Kourtney’s pregnant, Kourtney’s pregnant. Kourtney’s gained so much weight. I’m like, it’s so rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they are actually going through.”
The media personality added that even though she has always been cautious about the things she puts into her body, she believed that the medication was having an opposite reaction and working as a contraceptive instead of helping her conceive. And while Kourtney acknowledged that she had so many things to be happy about, she couldn’t deny that her usual upbeat personality had switched to being “super moody and hormonal, like I’m a lunatic half the time.”
Kris attempted to give her oldest daughter some words of encouragement, agreeing that though Kourtney already has three happy and healthy children, wanting another baby and having had no luck conceiving can be very discouraging to a couple looking to expand their family.

The momager recalled her own experience with depression after suffering a miscarriage in 1994, causing her body to shut down and her behavior beginning to change. “I was moody and depressed, I was bloated, didn’t feel well, everything you described.”

“You want to bring your own baby, your own love, into the world, in the way you know how it feels to have a child, and now you want to do it with the love of your life,” Kris continued telling Kourtney.
IVF is the route commonly used for couples who’ve been struggling to conceive the natural way, which is performed by taking the eggs from one’s ovaries before they are fertilized in a sperm lab and transferred back into the uterus. There are many drugs doctors can prescribe their patients which activate the release of hormones, subsequently stimulating egg production.
