DaBaby has been dropped from the $4 million lawsuit filed by his ex DaniLeigh‘s brother Brandon Bills over their 2022 bowling alley brawl. However, there’s a small catch.

Charlotte, North Carolina rapper DaBaby scores a victory in his legal battle with Brandon Bills, the brother of his ex-girlfriend and daughter’s mother, singer DaniLeigh.
As we previously shared, things all began after DaniLeigh went live and accused DaBaby of putting her and their daughter out of his house. The rapper claimed he couldn’t tolerate “toxic behavior” and wanted to separate before things got worse. However, DaniLeigh claimed he got upset after she ordered Plan B to his house.
Brandon Bills Says He Went To Talk To DaBaby Man-To-Man Before Bowling Alley Beatdown
In an interview with Hollywood Unlocked With Jason Lee: Uncensored (HUJLU), Brandon Bills said he was tired of his sister being disrespected. So, he began to repeatedly call out DaBaby, even claiming he could beat him up. Well, they soon ended up under the same roof. In February 2022, DaBaby and Brandon Bills were caught in a vicious bowling alley brawl at Corbin Bowl in Topanga, CA.
Surveillance and cell phone footage went viral showing Brandon Bills being attacked as DaBaby and his entourage closed in. Officials claimed the videos clearly showed DaBaby as the aggressor and Brandon as the victim. The bowling alley ended up banning the “ROCKSTAR” rapper from visiting again.
Brandon Bills Sues DaBaby And Bowling Alley For $4 Million After Brawl
In his interview with HUJLU, Brandon Bills said he approached DaBaby wanting to tell him how he didn’t appreciate how he treated his sister in the past, but wanted to have a real conversation. However, things obviously went left.
In addition to DaBaby getting banned from the bowling alley, he was also sued by Brandon Bills, who first opted not to cooperate with police and press charges. Instead, he filed a $4 million civil lawsuit against DaBaby and the bowling over the brawl. In his suit, he claimed he suffered serious injuries, psychological trauma, and a mountain of medical bills.
The lawsuit was seeking $2 million for general damages and another $2 million for special damages. $4 million total for alleged humiliation and physical distress. DaBaby’s legal team initially called the move a “quick money grab.” Meanwhile, DaBaby stood ten toes on his stance that it was “self-defense.” He said, “[People] shouldn’t run around threatening [other] people.”
Judge Drops DaBaby From $4M Lawsuit Filed By DaniLeigh’s Brother Brandon Bills Over 2022 Bowling Alley Brawl
Three years after Brandon Bills filed his $4 million lawsuit against DaBaby, a judge is now dropping the case. In March, the rapper and his legal team filed a motion to dismiss. They argued the statute of limitations and spoke with prejudice so that Brandon Bills couldn’t refile. The motion read:
“[Bills] commenced this baseless lawsuit on February 16, 2022. More than three years have passed, and Plaintiff has failed to serve [DaBaby]. [Bills] has not made one attempt at serving by publication. This is appalling, considering this Court issued an Order for Publication on April 10, 2024.”
Brandon Bills’ legal team fired back, claiming they couldn’t serve DaBaby as he’d been on tour. However, on Wednesday (May 21), Judge Huey P. Cotton sided with DaBaby’s legal team, according to Billboard. The judge said, “The only thing that made timely service difficult was plaintiff’s own lack of urgency.” The judge granted DaBaby’s motion to dismiss, stating:
“The court finds plaintiff’s explanations unavailing. Service was not attempted until more than a year after the case had been filed. The concert schedule attached does show some out of the country engagements. But the majority of the concert venues were in the United States.”
Despite having Brandon Bill’s lawsuit dismissed, DaBaby can still be on the hook if the bowling alley, which Bills also sued, is found financially liable in the attack. Bills accused the alley of negligence and if found guilty, DaBaby could be ordered to satisfy all or some of the judgment as the injuries were “proximately caused” by him. However, this part of the lawsuit won’t be tried until the Fall of 2026.
